BODWELL LADD (son of Nathaniel LADD and Abigail BODWELL) was born on 12 Dec 1750 in Haverhill, Essex, MA. A veteran of the Revolutionary War, Bodwell Ladd, then of Methuen, MA, served as a Private, in a company commanded by Maj. Samuel Bodwell, which marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775. He also served in Cap't. David Whittier's Co., in a regiment commanded by Maj. Benjamin Gage. He was apparently of Mohawk, NY, when he married. He died on 15 Oct 1829 in Theresa, Jefferson Co., NY and is buried in Old Theresa Cemetery.
He married Martha LEWIS of Mohawk presumably before 1799. Martha LEWIS was probably born about 1765. As Martha was apparently some 15 years younger than her husband, he may have had a previous wife or wives. She died on 22 Oct 1812.
