Children are loaned to us from God. He calls some back to him sooner than others, as he did Chance. Chance laughed and smiled throughout his brief life, bringing joy and happiness to everyone he knew. Chance fought the valiant fight with a five-organ transplant his entire stay on earth. Chance was the son of James Fred and Lacey Hammett. He was the answer to their prayers and they waited for his birth with joyful expectation. During his brief visit on earth, he enjoyed musical toys, cars, romping with his mother, playing ball with his daddy and cuddling with his grandparents. He had a contagious personality and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, James. L. Hammett and Raymond Talbot; great-grandmother, Gertrude Mattson; and uncle, Kenneth Shane Daugherty Hammett.
In addition to his parents, Chance is also survived by his sister, Alexis; brother, Koby; grandparents, James "PaPa" Hammett, Beth "Grannie" Hammett, Pauline Mattson, Ron Salathe, Franklin Hightower and Geraldine Hightower; great-grandparents, Eugenia "Grand-
mother" Hammett and Raymond Mattson; uncles, Justin Hightower and Aaron Hightower; and aunt, Rhea Teague.
Pallbearers will be family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Miami Children's Hospital and Mobile Children's Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 this evening at the church.
