Henry Charles Thiele, 83, of Wharton went to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2011. He was born in Bishop on June 7, 1928 to Henry Walter Thiele and Minnie Nerger Thiele.

Henry served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Anne Froehlich on July 19, 1953 in Bishop. They later moved to Bay City where they lived for 23 years rearing their family. He was a devoted family man who was supportive of his children's activities. He worked in management for Celanese Chemical Co. for 39 years until retirement in 1985. They moved to Wharton where they have lived for 27 years.

Henry was a long-time, active member of St. John's Lutheran Church providing inspiration and guidance to others. He was also active in numerous civic organizations. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his larger than life personality and sense of humor. He enjoyed camping, barbecuing, gardening, dominoes and spending time with family and friends. His humility, strength of character, positive spirit and unwavering faith in God will sustain us all as we celebrate his long and fruitful life.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Anne and their four children: Donna and husband Reggy Comer of Montgomery; Patsy of Hollywood, Fla.; Sheryl and husband Brian Josserand of Austin; and Richard and wife Stacy of San Diego, Calif. He is also survived by his sister Mildred Avery of Enid, Okla.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Houston Hospice for their compassionate care.

Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services today, Wednesday, Oct. 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 614 Pecan St. in Wharton. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wharton. A reception will follow at the church.
