Grave recorded in 1956 by the Chief Tusquahoma Chapter D.A.R. for the series "Louisiana Tombstone Transcriptions", Volume I, Page 141.

According to an online family tree, Thaddeus was the husand of Louella, and the father of Evelina, Lena, Murray, Dewey, Gray and Houston.

Skull Crushed With Club Fred McElroy Dies Sunday Enroute to Monroe for Aid

Fred McElroy, forty-five years old, was struck on the head and killed by Seth Howard, seventeen years of age. About 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon near the Claiborne school house, five miles northwest of Monroe. McElroy who had been to West Monroe was on his way home and it is said was partly under the influence of liquor. when near the Claiborne school he met Seth and Horace Howard, the latter nineteen years old. The boys state that McElroy charged Horace Howard with improperly scaling logs he had cut, both being employees of the McGee sawmill, and that McElroy took Horace by the arm in a threatening manner. When Horace freed himself from McElroy the latter is alleged to have advanced on Seth and the younger boy struck him on the head with a section of a dead limb. McElroy's skull was fractured by relatives not knowing the extent of his injuries took no immediate steps to bring him to the city for treatment. Two hours later the injured man died in a wagon while being brought to the sanitarium. McElroy is survived by his wife and four children besides other relatives. Seth Howard was arrested last night by Sheriff Arthur Grant and locked in the parish jail.

Two Were Arrested.

A.M. McElroy, father of T.C. McElroy who was killed late Sunday afternoon by Seth Howard, has sworn out warrants against Fed [?] Howard and M.M. Gregory who were with Seth Howard when the killing occurred. Both the accused men have been arrested and released on $2000 bonds each. T.C. McElroy, the dead man, is survived by seven children instead of four.
