Oral family history: Alta GIBBS Head died of the Flu or some upper- respiratory problem sometime Nov. 1900., approximately 6 mo. after their youngest child Joe Forest was born. At the time of her death the children born to Alta & John HEAD ranged in age from 6 mo. -9 years & were taken in by various significant others; of which I have now determined there was a distant blood relation to the HEAD FAMILY.( "FANNY HEAD, Wallis, Wright, Ely", the sister of JOHN HEAD, being one of THE LINKS .) All the children appear in the *1900 CENSUS WITH THEIR PARENTS, which was enumerated 1, June 1900. Their baby, Joe Forest, was b. May of 1900. Alta died that November, 1900. The *1910 CENSUS FINDS THE CHILDREN IN OTHER HOMES, AS FOLLOWS:

In the Kansas Census Bertha is listed as an adopted daughter-although no actual records, or info from the family have been found to support the adoption.
