Husband of Mary Austin. They wed in Haverhill, MA, Aug. 6, 1741.
In 1742 he sold out his land in Andover, MA, given him by his grandfather. He was raised by his grandparents as both his parents died when he was a small boy. He is reported to have served in the French and Indian Wars in the Hollis Company of Scouts commanded by Captain Peter Powers. At least 7 of Jonathans children served in the Revolution - a patriotic record perhaps not surpassed by another American family. Jonathan built the original Lovejoy homestead in Hollis which until 1898 remained in the family's possession for 155 years.
