Grandpa Mac married (1) Mable Belle GRIFFIN on 23 May 1916 in LaSalle Parish LA, and (2) Cassie Rose MAY on 11 Jan 1936 in Kelly, Caldwell Parish LA. He and Mable had five children: Pearl, Earl Edwin "Jack", Mildred Eufaye "Millie", Virgil Leroy (twin) & Vernon Leroy (twin) MCBROOM. The twins only lived a few weeks. He and Grandma Cassie had three sons: Ralph Hansford, Robert Lee and Kenneth Wayne MCBROOM.

He worked in the lumber mills across North Louisiana. He was about 68" tall, blue eyes, light brown hair, slender and athletic.

Elige C. McBroom, age 65, died Saturday in a Shreveport hospital.
He was a resident of Ward Three, west of Kelly. His body was brought back here and funeral services held Wednesday at 2pm from the Hickory Springs Baptist Church in Jackson Parish, with the Rev. A.A. Calhoun of Columbia Heights in charge. Interment followed in the church cemetery under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.
Mr. McBroom is survived by his widow, Mrs Cassie McBroom of Kinder; four sons: Ken McBroom of Kinder, Robt Lee and Ralph McBroom, both of the USAF; Earl McBroom of California, and a daughter, Miss Mildred McBroom of New Orleans. He is also survived by two brothers, Monroe McBroom, of West Monroe and John McBroom of Tullos and sisters, Mrs. Andrew Davis of Ward 6, and Mrs Orline Powell of Kelly in Ward 3.
