Ardonald "Don" Boren, 76, of Nampa, died Monday, March 11, 1996, at a Nampa hospital. Don was born on August 11, 1919, at Whiterocks, Utah, to Isaac and Essie Jacobs Boren. At a young age, he moved to Emmett with his family, and later to Dietrich. They then moved to Nyssa, Oregon, where he was reared and educated, graduating from high school there in 1937. After his schooling he worked at a service station in Nyssa, where he learned to work on cars. In 1941 he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He married Louise English on August 17, 1941, at her parents' home in Roswell, Idaho, and they made their home in Nampa. While working for the railroad, he also managed the American Oil Service Station in Nampa for 10 years. He retired from Union Pacific as a Locomotive Engineer in 1981, and they have resided in Nampa since. He also worked for a time at Alsip Funeral Chapel. Don enjoyed working in his yard, working on cars and playing cards. One of his greatest joys was being with his grandchildren. Don was a member of the Nampa First Christian Church. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, a member of Ashlar Lodge #29 A.F. & A.M., a member and past Worthy Patron of the Nampa Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Nampa Knife and Fork Club and had been a member of the Nampa Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of Nampa; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and George Asselin, Nampa, Beth Ann and Mostafa Tarkeshian, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeanine and Kendell Kim, Nampa; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Sidney and Eunice Boren, Cle Elum, Washington, Herbert and Martha Boren, Lebanon, Oregon; 4 sisters, Lottie Seitz, Lebanon, Oregon, Florence Fenwick, Pocatello, Idaho, Viola Larrance and her husband Everett, Hines, Oregon, Ida Mae Haynes and her husband, Jack, Boise; 8 grandchildren, Paula Herrera and her husband Jaime, Nampa, Mike Asselin and his wife Shannon, Nampa, Jeff Knutson, Chris Knutson, Aaron Holstein, all of Boise, Abraham, Benjamin and Andrew Tarkeshian, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; 2 great-grandsons, Devin Asselin and Trey Herrera of Nampa; 1 great-granddaughter, Priscilla Kim, Nampa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law and 2 grandchildren.
