W. L. Riggs Laid to Rest Here November 26

Funeral services were held at the Smith Funeral Home last Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock for William Louis Riggs, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pearl Adair in San Antonio on Friday, November 25. Rev. Jack Rotan, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Terrell Wells in San Antonio officiated and he was assisted by Rev. H. T. Arnold of the First Baptist Church here.

Mr. Riggs was well known here having lived for many years in this section. He was born in Burnet on November 19, 1870, later coming to Bandera where he was married to Miss Mattie Chipman. His wife preceded him in death on June 15, 1942 and he is survived by four sons, Louis Riggs of Riverside, California; Robert Riggs of Long Beach, California; Thos. J. Riggs of San Antonio and Woodrow Riggs of Bandera; six daughters, Mrs. Rena McNack and Mrs. Mabel Polly of Morcola, Oregon; Mrs. Mae Smith, Pearsall' Mmes Clara Fried & Pearl Adair of San Antonio, Mrs. Lila Colemand of Hebronville and 34 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Tom Riggs of Pearsall and John Riggs of Hooker, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Callahan of Hooker, Oklahoma and Mrs. Rosie Myers of San Antonio.
