Mr. Close operated the Close Garage at Ridgeway for about 30 years and later was employed as a truck driver for Shelton Butane before retiring.
He was married to Laudelle Hood on November 18, 1933 in the Branom community. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Joanne Perkins of Fort Worth; a grandson, Mack Perkins; and two sisters, Mrs. Opal Waggoner of Rockwall and Mrs. Margaret Rogers of Canton.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tapp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Francis Sales officiating. Burial followed in the Ridgeway Cemetery.
