He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat Adams, his daughter Teresa Yvette Adams, his son Richard Embrie Adams, his two granddaughters Paige and Brandi Gavin, beloved family members Billy and Hazel Hughes and their children Dal and Kay, nephews Phil and Wyman Hall, nieces Diane, Sherry, and Vicki.
Richard began his career with Oliver K. Lewis, Consulting Engineers. He was later employed as V.P. of Lipsey Mechanical, eventually becoming owner from 1991 to 2008. Until his death, he was employed by Albany Air Conditioning and Heating Co. Inc.
Richard enjoyed tennis and bike riding, but his true love was sailing and he was often seen under full sail on the waters of Lake Eufaula. He was a friend to many on the docks of Bagby State Park, and he was never without a word to offer, a laugh, and a smile. Mr. Adams was a member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of The Elk Lodge # 713, The Loyal Order of The Moose and was a former Jaycee.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
