Helen A. Price, 93, of Emporia, Kansas, died October 5, 2011 at Holiday Resort Care Center.Helen Amelia Droll, the daughter of Dr. Walter M. and Hannah Wetzig Droll, was born in Alta Vista, Kansas on September 18, 1918. She married Neil Price in 1942 and they later divorced in 1971. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Kansas State University, and her Master's Degree from Emporia State University. She taught music in the North Lyon County School District for 28 years and at Neosho Rapids for one year. While at Kansas State she was a member of the AZD sorority and Mu Phi Epsilon. In Emporia, she was a member of the First Christian Church, where she played organ for several years, and was a member of DWF and the Kumjoinus Sunday School Class at the church. She was a member of the Miriam Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star and played piano for a few years, Retired Teachers Association, Ball-McColm Post #5 Auxiliary, Emporia Country Club, she also volunteered at Newman Regional Health and was a member of several card clubs in Emporia.She is survived by one son, Warren M. Price of Emporia; two daughters, Ann Price of Topeka, Kansas, Jackie Zahn of Hawaii; grandchildren, Scott Price, Holly Sims, Kris Eicholtz, Gretchen Muskina, Luis Price; great-grandchildren, Andrew Eicholtz, Jenny Fratiello, George Pickering, Elizabeth Delatore, Jared Wempe, Nickolas Muskina, Evan Muskina, Ella Jane Sims; great-great-grandchildren, Josiah Eicholtz, Malia Eicholtz, Alysasa Eicholtz, Isaiah Chase, Richard Delatore, Leonidas Delatore, Isabella Delatore, Lace Lynn Fratiello, Emily Fratiello.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Droll and Alfred Droll.The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2011 at the First Christian Church, Emporia. Pastor Bob Colerick will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Alta Vista Cemetery, Alta Vista, Kansas, at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hand In Hand Hospice or Emporia Friends of the Zoo. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
