NORTHBRIDGE - Bernard C. "Red" Adams Sr., 76, died yesterday in his son's home after an illness.


He leaves his wife of 50 years, Helen R. (Reilly) Adams; a son, Bernard C. "Rusty" Adams Jr. of Whitinsville; a sister, Charlotte L. Duvernay of Uxbridge; and two granddaughters. He was born in Uxbridge, son of Ernest A. and Grace (Patterson) Adams, and lived here more than 40 years.


He was an expediter for 47 years at the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, retiring in 1982.


Mr. Adams was a World War II Navy veteran.


He was a member of the Navy LST Association.


The funeral will be Monday from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St., Whitinsville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Cross Street, Whitinsville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
