CLEMENT TUBBS

Born: 1764
Died: February 21, 1847

Died: February 4, 1836 in town of Ellisburg, Jefferson County, N.Y.

Service: Clement Tubbs ran away from home to enlist at Saratoga, N.Y. at the age of 17 years in 1781. He served under Capt. Silas Gray in Gen. Schuyler's Brigade for nine months. He then enlisted in Capt. William Dunlap's Co. of Col. Marinus Willett's Regiment for nine months. Was at Fort Ticonderoga, Fort Stanwix, Oneida Lake, and Fort George. Did scouting duty under Capt. Fondy. Lived at Saratoga at time of enlistment.

Remarks: Clement Tubbs' wife Mary is buried in the Reed cemetery in the town of Ellisburg, Jefferson County, N.Y. As the Reed Cemetery is a very old one his stone may have disappeared. Clement Tubbs came from Vermont and had lived at New Canaan, N.Y. He had a son Benjamin, aged 42 years in 1852 and a son Alva in 1802. He had 13 children in all. Lived in Ellisburg for 40
years.
