William B. Mann, Sr., 87, of 619 Main St., died Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Kindred Hospital, Leicester, after an illness. His wife of 43 years, Gail (Hoyt) Mann, died in 1995.

He is survived by three sons: William B. Mann, Jr. of Boylston, Deane H. Mann, Sr. and his wife, Elaine, of Altoona, PA, and Robert D. Mann; a sister, Helen Sanborn of Upton; six grandchildren: William B. Mann, III & Kimberley L. Mann, both of Boylston, Jeffrey M. Mann of Clinton, Deane H. Mann, Jr. of Altoona, PA, Sarah E. Giselman and her husband, Garth of Sterling, VA and Robert W. Mann; one great-grandchild, Nathaniel J. Giselman; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Lloyd Mann and Walter Mann, Jr., predeceased him. Bill was greatly loved by family friend and helper of many years, Korene Sorensen

Bill was born and raised in Sterling, son of Walter and Ethel May (Godfrey) Mann, Sr. A graduate of Leominster High School, and the former New England School of Accounting, he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He had been a resident of Boylston for nearly 60 years.

For many years prior to its closing, Bill worked as an accountant at the former Colonial Press. He later retired from the accounting offices of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Welfare.

Bill was a member of the First Congregational Church of Boylston, and also served for many years as the church organist and choir director at the First Congregational Church of Princeton.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Trinity Lodge in Clinton, MA and enjoyed traveling.

Memorial services and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sterling, will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. For those who wish, the family suggests that donations be made in memory of Bill to the First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church St., Boylston, MA 01505.
