Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, July 5, 1983: "Luella Davis. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel for Luella Almyra Davis, 68, of Chico. She died Saturday in a local hospital.

"She was born July 13, 1914, in Chico to George and Edith Abbott. She was reared and educated in Chico. On July 31, 1933, she married Byron Davis in Carson City, Nev. During World War II she worked at the Mare Island Naval Base. Following the war she and her husband moved back to Chico and she went to work for Victor Industries. She retired in 1977. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chico. Besides her husband, survivors include a brother, Richard Abbott of Chico.

"The Rev. James Austin of the Chico Community Congregational Church will preside at the funeral. Casketbearers will be Henry Katka, Earl Sipling, Loyd Collett, Ronald Selkirk, Richard Abbott and Eldred Abbott. Burial will be in Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home."
