Edward of Company I 112th Illinois Infanty was captured at Riceville, Tennessee on Sept. 26, 1863 along with 24 others. He was held at Andersonville Prison until Sherman's approach to the prison, then moved to the equally poor prison, Florence Stockade in Florence, South Carolina. He died in Florence, South Carolina.
Of the original 24 men captured, only 9 survived imprisonment.
