LA MARQUE — Tiny Stepchinski was born Margaret Mae Floyd on November 12, 1919. At age 88, she passed from this life January 22, 2008, in the arms of her loving children at Mainland Medical Center in La Marque, Texas. She was raised in Galveston, Texas, and regaled her children with stories of her childhood and her island home. Tiny had a great love for three things in life – music, dancing, and above all, her family. Tiny is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years Patrick Francis Stepchinski whom she worked beside at their company Crescent Electric until his death in 2003; beloved mother and step-father Margaret and Norwood J. Ruiz Sr.; and her sister and dearest friend Dorothy Lee Nagorny. She is survived by daughter Patricia and son by marriage Bill Wiley Smith and daughter Peggy and son by marriage Roland Castanie; son Nick and daughter by marriage Christy Stepchinski and her younger son, her devoted companion and caregiver, David Stepchinski. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother and sister by marriage Norwood "Bubba" and Bennett Ruiz Jr.; eight grandchildren Bill, Stephen, Ken, Nicole, Lori, James, Monique and Cass; thirteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her dear friend and cousin, Betty Marie Wagner. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nusrat Soleja, the staff of the ICU and especially her nurse in her last days, Mary.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2008, at the funeral home with Deacon Joe Duplan officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Bill Smith, Stephen Smith, Kenneth Stepchinski, James Stepchinski, Roland "Cass" Castanie and grandson by marriage Stephen Price.
