Donald L. Dunlap, 77, of rural Pekin peacefully passed away at 12:25 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his home.

He was born April 30, 1934, in Bloomington, Ill., to Henry and Edna Myers Dunlap. He first married Patricia Armstrong on Dec. 29, 1956, and she died Aug. 24, 1983. He later married Lila Burcham on Aug. 18, 1984, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Susan Henthorn of Carmel, Ind.; three sons, Mike (Kris) Dunlap of Tremont, David (Terri Garber) Dunlap of Delavan and Jimmy (Lyn Burch) Dunlap of Groveland; one stepson, Steve (Joy Joesting) Sundstrom of Groveland; two stepdaughters, Diana VanMeter of Bloomington and Sandy (Don) Kaiser of Tremont; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Dunlap of Santa Cruz, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, one sister and twin brothers.

Mr. Dunlap served with the U.S. Army for two years.

He graduated a tool and die maker in 1968, and was employed at Morton Metalcraft in Morton, retiring in 1998. Upon retirement, he worked in research and development at Precision Planting in Tremont.

He enjoyed wood working and made many beautiful items for his family.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. The Rev. David Craig will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Danvers.
