US Army World War II Veteran. Born in Kansas, he was a resident of Wray, Yuma County, Colorado when he enlisted in 1943. Served as a Private First Class with the 602nd Tank Destroyer Battalion and was killed in action in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. His Brother Private Samuel A. Banaka, US Army was killed in action on July 12, 1944 in France.
