STREATOR — Andrew J. "Smiley" Burash Sr., 83, of Streator, died Friday morning, Oct. 7, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elias Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Born Jan. 13, 1928, in Streator, he was the son of John and Anna (Hrabek) Burash. He married Joann Clark in 1950.
Smiley is survived by his wife, Joann of Streator; children, Monica Burash of Streator, Sherry (Dwain) Holt of Streator, Andrew (Cindy) Burash Jr. of Grand Ridge, Richard (Connie) Burash of Streator, Susan (Richard ) Stehl of Streator, Dan Burash of Streator, Michael (Trisha) Burash of Ottawa and John (Noel) Burash of Bourbonnais; 12 grandchildren, Alan Holt, Heather Harcharik, Tom Holt, Sarah Russell, Nick Tintori, Tanya Burash, Bethany Burash, Andrew Stehl, Amber Sharp, Jessica Burash, Paul Van Hout and Kaaren Schoof; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, John (Edith) Burash, Ed (Kathy) Burash and Robert Burash, all of Streator; sisters, Marianne (Richard) Gibbons of Streator and Dorothy (Tom) Wright of Rockford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Brittany Burash; and a sister, Margaret Sharisky.
Smiley worked at Anthony Company in Streator for more than 29 years and was a former member of St. Stephen's Church.
