Oliver F. Thornton Sr., 87, of 2431 Steele Ct. died 2:32 p.m. Wednesday (13Feb1985) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Brintlinger's Pershing Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Mr. Thornton was born in LaClede, son of William Elden & Sarrah Hannah Thornton. He was a retired steamfitter for Houdaille Hershey & a member of Grace Baptist Church. He Married Meda Bizot in 1917. She died in 1983.
Surviving are his sons, Oliver F. Jr. of Decatur; Robert F. of Flippin, AR; daughters, Violet M. Boliard, Virginia Milligan, Delores Jones & Norma Heuser, all of Decatur; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren.
Two children, 2 brothers & 2 sisters preceded him in death.
