Louis P. and Mary (Johnson) Anderson, both natives of Sweden, immigrated to the United State in 1857, locating first in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where they spent three years, then came west to Dubuque, Iowa, in 1860. Louis was a miner in Sweden and also in Pennsylvania, and he worked in the lead mines near Dubuque until 1864, then he started farming in Dubuque County until 1882, when he located to Floyd County, buying a farm in Floyd Township. After living on this farm for twelve years he retired from active life and moved to the village of Floyd where he spent the rest of his live, dying in the year 1904. The death of his widow occurred there in 1907.
They had five children:
