Rosalina, shortened to Rosalie, was born on Oct. 7, 1886 in Palermo, Sicily, the 5th of seven children of Natale and Rosaria (nee Scalici) Zangara. She had brothers Nicola, Michael, Frank, Thomas and Vincent & a sister Rosina.
She immigrated with her parents and brother Vincent to America at age 17, leaving Palmermo on Oct. 4, 1902 on the ship SS Sicilian Prince, arriving at New York City on Oct. 20, 1902 and then traveling on to Cleveland where her Uncle Frank was already living.
Rosalie married Joseph Di Liberto in Jan. 1903 in Cleveland, OH. She was 17 and he was 30. They had seven children listed above.
They appeared in the 1920 Cleveland census living at 1954 E. 120th St. Also living at that address was Rosalina's mother Rosaria and her brother Michael and his family.
They had been married 50 years and were living at 17817 Dillwood Ave. when Joseph passed away on July 22, 1952 at age 77. Services were held on July 25 11th at St. Jerome's Church where they were members.
Rosalie passed away seven years later at age 74 on May 15, 1959 at home from a cerebral hemorrhage and had advanced arterio-sclerosis. Services were held on Mon. May 18th at St. Jerome's Church on Taylor Rd. Their son Joseph, Jr. preceded them in death passing away on Jan. 20, 1950. They are both buried at Lake View Cemetery on Euclid Ave.
