Elizabeth "Betty" J. Fitzgerald 89, of Traverse City passed away Friday, October 7, 2011, following a short illness.
Elizabeth "Betty" was born December 14, 1921 in Grand Traverse County, to the late Stanley and Lillian (Lardie) Wood.
On January 20, 1945 she wed Thomas L Fitzgerald at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mapleton.
Elizabeth "Betty" is survived by her children: Mary Ann Urick, John T (Carol) Fitzgerald of Traverse City, James (Teresa) Fitzgerald of Vicksburg, MI, Margaret (Mark) Abbenante of Frankenmuth, MI , William (Robin) Fitzgerald of Grawn, Charles (Anna) Fitzgerald of El Paso, TX, ; nine grandchildren, and five great grand children. Brothers Dale Thomas (Shirley) Wood of Traverse City, James (Pat) Wood of Lake Placid, FL, George (Ferne) Wood of West Tawakoni, TX. Sister Nell Pitcher of Traverse City, MI.
Along with her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband Thomas L., her son-in-law Doug Urick, great grandson Douglas Marsh, her sisters Donna Lewis, and Barbara Scarpelli, brothers John Wood, Stanley Wood and Frances Wood.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, with a Vigil for the Deceased at 7:30 pm at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 12 at Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev James Hayden officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Diocesan Catholic Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Wednesday.
