Herbert J. Brackman, 73, St. Henry, died of cancer at 6 p.m. Thursday at Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born June 2 1920, in St. Joe, to Joseph and Rose (Bruns) Brackman. On April 24, 1946, in St. Wendelin, he married Doleres Brunswick, who survives.
Other survivors are eight sons, Herb Jr., Marvin, Daniel and Kenneth, all Coldwater, Donald, Lima, James and Christopher, both St. Henry, and Thomas, New Bremen; two daughters, Sharon Fesmier, Mansfield, and Kathy Moeller, Coldwater; two brothers, Zeno, St. Joe, and Ivo, Fort Recovery, and 23 grandchildren.
He was preceded by a brother and sister.
Mr. Brackman was retired from AVCO New Idea and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Knights of America, St, Joe, and the American Legion, St. Henry. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mass of Christian burial is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Joseph Pax officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. Sunday and until the service Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry, where military services will be conducted by the American Legion.
