Jake was dedicated to his community and belonged to several organizations. He was a board member of the NCA (NATIONAL CLEANERS ASSOCIATION) which was formed to train youths in the dry cleaning business. He also started the WASHINGTON AVENUE BOARD OF TRADE now known as WAMA (WASHINGTON AVENUE MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION), as well as, worked with the 77th Police Precinct children's baseball team.
Grand Dad liked to travel all around the world, as well as eat all types of food delicacies from around the world. But one of his life-long dreams was to travel to Africa. His dream was fulfilled. He traveled to Africa twice, visiting places such as Nairobi, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
