William Delmer 'Del' Gann, 88, passed away on October 30, 2008 in Orange City, Florida. Born December 25, 1919 in Conway, Missouri, to Leonard and Sadie Gann; he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Elizabeth (Betty).
Del served with distinction in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He received multiple service awards, including the Bronze Star, with repeat clusters, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He participated in military campaigns with the 36th Division in North Africa, Sicily, and Europe.
Del was an avid golfer and enjoyed professional success as a wholesale food broker in northeast and central Florida.
He is survived by his son Michael (Donna) of York, South Carolina; grandchildren Heather and Dawne Gann, Laura (Kurt) Lawson, Sean, Chris, and Matt Morrison; and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of Del's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 4th, in the Quinn-Shalz Chapel, Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Interment will follow at H. Warren Smith Cemetery, Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville Beach, with military honors provided by the Beaches Honor Guard.
