Ellen Margaret Stoffel, 86, died at the Help for Hospice Home in Riverton, Wyo., Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.

Ellen was born April 1, 1924 in Lakeview to Michael Phillip Barry and Eileene (Lena) O'Shea.

Ellen graduated from Lakeview High School and attended Oregon State College. She was married to Paul Stoffel Dec. 7, 1943 in Pine City, Minn. During WWII, she worked for the United States Navy, at the Lakeview Airport, under Retired Chief Woods. The couple owned and operated the Stoffel Boarding House in Lakeview for 40 years. Ellen also cooked at King's Café.

Ellen was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church all of her life and participated in the Altar Society. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Lakeview High School Booster Club and volunteered for the Lakeview Swim Team.

As a young girl Ellen loved her horse Dolly. As a woman, she enjoyed dancing, going to movies, playing cards with family, cooking for family and friends, sewing and embroidery, gardening, fishing with her husband and camping. She also loved planning weddings, traveling and reading and telling stories about family and friends. Ellen lived her entire life in Lakeview until five years ago when she moved to Eagle Point with her son Paul and then to Lander, Wyo. to be near her daughters and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Bernard Stoffel; brothers John Barry and Phillip Barry; sisters Catherine Lemeke and Agnes Conklin; brothers-in-law Myron Mckee and Charlie Reifel.

Survivors include: sons, Michael John Stoffel, William John Stoffel, Paul (Speed) Bernard Stoffel; son and daughter-in-law, John Barry Stoffel and Lauri Kay Stoffel; daughter and son-in-law Sharon Joe and Charlie Richard Boodleman; daughter Michelle Jeanne Stoffel; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Irene Barry and Jere and Wanda Barry; Eileen McKee , Julia Reifel and Josephine Barry; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Olaf Shipstead.

Holy Rosary services were held Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic church. The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church by Father Anthony. The Interment followed at the Sunset Cemetery in the family plot next to her husband Paul.

Pallbearers were William John Stoffel, John Barry Stoffel, Paul Scott Stoffel, Wesley Albert Joe, Michael William Boodleman, Cody Stoffel, Michael Barry and Philip Barry. Honorary Pall Bearers were William Barry, Jere Barry, Micheal John Stoffel, Paul Bernard Stoffel, Olaf Shipstead, Jake Stoffel, Todd Stoffel, Ryan Becquer, Pat Barry, Phillip Barry, Carson Joe, Keith Steward, Mike Lemeke, Bernie Conklin, Joe Conklin, Carson Stoffel, Tyler Stoffel and Cody Stoffel.
