Ansel was the son of August and Helena Rummel. He died at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 12 days. He moved with his family to Hamilton County, Nebraska in 1884, and from there to Rawlins County, Kansas to the family homestead in 1886. Mr. Rummel, was one of a pioneer family, contributed to making Rawlins County what it is today. He was one of 15 children, and all have preceded him in death except his brother Henry Rummel of Atwood, Kansas. On November 24, 1903 he was united in marriage with Bertha Hastings. To this union six children were born. He settled on his homestead which was part of the farm still owned at the time of his death. They resided on the farm, and there reared their family. In 1942, he and Mrs. Rummel moved to McDonald, and here he lived until the time of his passing. He was a good husband and father, a good neighbor, a good citizen of the community, serving on the school board and Equity board for many years. He will be missed by the whole community. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife who passed away on June 9, 1950, by these sisters Mrs. Kate Burk, Mrs. Mary Robrecht, Mrs. Celia Bowland, Mrs. Lena Yoos, and Miss Sophie Rummel, and these brothers, Oswald, Will, Theodore, Joe, Matt, Herman, Guss, and John. Three grandchildren also preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Mrs. Mable Hockett of Colby, Kansas, Elmer Rummel of Yakima, Washington, Garrold, Roy and Calvin Rummel of Denver, Colorado, and Vinson of McDonald, Kansas. One brother, Henry, survives, also 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A great number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a large number of friends, also join in cherishing his memory.
