James O. "Hank" Merritt, Jr., 69, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Friday, October 7, 2011.

He was born March 2, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late James O. and Eugenia (Watkins) Merritt, Sr. He retired from International Paper Company, in Pine Bluff, as an electrical supervisor after 32 years of service.

On May 10, 1961 he married Suzanne Small, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, who survives him after 50 years of marriage; son Bradley Hank Merritt of Pine Bluff, AR; daughter Vickie Merritt of Dallas, TX; sister Elizabeth "Betty" (Merritt) Peer of Ft. Smith, AR; and grandchildren William Merritt, Kyle Merritt, Sarah Slovacek, and Megan Matney.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 2222, Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date following cremation.

In 1974 he was baptized and became a member of The Philadelphia Church of God, located in Edmon, Oklahoma (www.pcog.org).
