Mrs. Ruth May Henderson, 75, of Alexandria died Monday, September 4, 1972 at 5:35 a.m. in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. She had been in failing health for only three weeks. Born July 2, 1897 at Altoona, PA she was a daughter of David Y. and Martha Matilda (Orner) Bigelow.
She was united in marriage on March 26, 1919 to Walter C. Henderson, the ceremony, taking place at the bride's home with the Rev. Mr, Richardson officiating. Her husband preceded her In death In September, 1951.
Surviving are these children: Robert Henderson, Alexandria; Wayne B, Henderson, Spruce Creek; Mrs. Paul D. (Jean) Walker, Huntingdon; Mrs. Ralph (Marjorie) Wagner, McAllster and Mrs. Gerald (Martha Lois) Slothower, Dillsburg. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Walter Bigelow, Altoona; David Blgelow, Altoona; Mrs. Elizabeth Prlncle, Altoona; Mrs. Edith Piper, Petersburg; Mrs. Margaret Shafer, Des Plaines, IL and Mabel Bigelow, Alexandria. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
The deceased was a member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Juniatia Valley Senior Citizens, she was a member of the Alexandra Garden and the Alexandria Book club. J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, at 2:00 pm from the Grove Funeral Home, Alexandria. The Rev. Daniel Long and the Rev. D. L. Brinton Shafer will officiate and internment will be made in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg. Friends may call at the Funeral home 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm today and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
