Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Virginia Nance Childers were held Monday at the Brooks-Cochell funeral home in Albany, conducted by the Rev. James Uttley of Union Star, and music was provided by Mrs. Thelbert E. Childers of Union Star. Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, Oklahoma. Mrs. Childers died last Friday at the home of her son Coleman Childers at Gladstone Missouri. She was 87 years old. She was the widow of Lewis Edward Childers. They were married November 28, 1901. They spent the early years of their married life as pioneers on a farm to which Mr. Childers drew a claim after the division of an Indian reservation near Temple Oklahoma. After that they farmed several years in Gentry County Missouri then returned in 1934 to their Oklahoma homestead. This is Childers was born in Gentry County Missouri July 29, 1879, a daughter of Archibald and Amanda Nance. She was a devoted member of the Walters Christian church. She had been active in extension and community club work, and in her flower garden were selections from all parts of the world. Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her husband on September 9, 1957 and by the daughter Esta in February, 1935. Surviving are two sons, Coleman Childers of Gladstone Missouri, and Thelbert Childers of Union Star; a sister, Miss Evelyn Nance of King City; a brother Nimrod Nance of Pattonsburg; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
