Daughter of JACOB HISS & ELIZABETH GATCH HISS. She was born at her parents home, Hiss Farm in Baltimore County. The house itself still stands and is located at 3209 Willoughby Rd in Parkville off of Harford Rd.

Her house with her husband Henry Crowl was located on Hillen Road by Woodbourne near where the Good Samaritan Hospital now stands. After her death, Henry sold the property to A.S. Abell who resided there until he bought Guilford.
