Mary Carpenter was born in West Almond on Dec 27, 1856 of Richard and Eliza Lovell Carpenter; died in Apr 1924. Taught school for two years previous to her marriage to Arthur G. Scoville in 1886. There were three children born to them, two of whom, Guy and Dora, died in infancy; Ray, the eldest, lived to survive his mother. Survived by her husband: son, Ray; granddaughter, Gertrude Scoville; sisters, Mrs. Harriet Currier of Coudersport, PA; and Mrs. Flora Walker and Mrs. Cora Eldredge of Angelica; Mrs. Ella Veley of Larryville, PA.; Miss Clara Carpenter and Mrs. Alice Veley of of Norton, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews."
