Birth: 1835-1838 Fairfax County, Va.
Death: 13 Feb 1864 Union prison at Johnson's Island, Ohio. He is buried on the island see memorial # 7777712.
George was the son of Tenley S. Swink and Ann Reid. His siblings were (in order of birth): Robert T. Swink, John Franklin Swink, Catherine V. Swink, and Ann Matilda Swink.
George also had three half-siblings. They were the children of Tenley and his second wife, Artemesia M. (Roberts) Blackburn: Joseph C. Swink, Martha Susan Swink, and Zachary Taylor Swink.

Both George and Joseph C. Swink were wounded and captured at Gettysburg. Joseph survived the war and lived until 1916. He is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va.
