Steven Wayne Swensen, DVM, age 50, of Peoria, AZ, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at the Banner-Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Hatton officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Steven was born in Des Moines, IA on February 17, 1961 to Don and Marilyn Swensen. The greater portion of his life was spent growing up in the Fort Dodge area and graduating from Fort Dodge Elementary and High School. He also grew up and attended the First Evangelical Free Church in Fort Dodge. He continued his education attending Iowa State University where the honor of a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree was conferred upon him. He was employed by the Banfield Corporation of Phoenix, AZ and earned many awards for his outstanding performance in his field of surgery in Veterinary Medicine. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed. He loved life and was very talented and gifted in so many areas.
Steven leaves behind his two beloved children, Michael and Victoria; his parents Don and Marilyn Swensen; his beloved brother Kurtis; his beloved sister Sandra (Jim) Brandow and his nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved son David who died in infancy.
