Della R. Talbot, 90, retired social worker
MOSCOW - Della R. Talbot, a Denver, Colo., social worker for 26 years, died of causes related to age Wednesday evening at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was 90.
She was born May 29, 1897, at Charle{s} City, Iowa, to Richard and Wilhelmina K. Roethke. She taught school and was a school principal in North Dakota for approximately four years.
On Nov. 12, 1924, she married Freeman H. Talbot. The couple moved to Denver where Mr. Talbot was the first manager of radio station KOA.
Because of her husband’s ill health, Mrs. Talbot returned to school at the University of Denver to work on her master’s degree. In 1936, she began work as a social case worker for the Denver Public Schools, a job she held for 26 years.
Mr. Talbot died in 1968. Mrs. Talbot stayed at Denver until 1983, then moved to Moscow. She first lived at Good Samaritan Village here, but recently moved to the nursing home.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Bobeck of Moscow and Nancy Wollard of Weston, Conn; two sisters, Florence Uhl of Stanton, Calif., and Edna Carley of Fargo, N.D.; and nine grandchildren. A daughter, two brothers and a sister died previously.
A memorial service for Mrs. Talbot will be held at a later date at Denver. Local arrangements and cremation were handled by Short’s Funeral Chapel.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Washington Park Church of Christ at Denver.
