KERMIT PINKERTON, of State Route 854 Rush, Ky., went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 2, 2003 at his home with his family by his side. He was 85 years of age.

Born February 5, 1918 in Midkiff, W.Va., Mr. Pinkerton was a son of the late Leonard and Frances Hager Pinkerton. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Engineering Corps. After serving 4 years in the military, Mr.Pinkerton opened Pinkerton Drilling Company, which he owned and operated for 50 years, drilling gas, oil and water wells. He also was a member of Garner Missionary Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sarah Smith Pinkerton; three sons, Robert Runyon of Rush, Ky., Mosey Runyon and his wife Connie and Dale Pinkerton all of Catlettsburg, Ky.; one brother, Jim Pinkerton of Clendenin, W.Va.; two sisters, Kathleen Vest of Milton, W.Va., and Reba Roberts of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Steven, Katie and Cassie.

Besides his father and mother Mr. Pinkerton was preceded in death by one son, Larry Pinkerton in 1991 and by one daughter, Debrah Pinkerton in 1958. A funeral service celebrating the life of Kermit Pinkerton will be held Sunday, October 5, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Kilgore and Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Words of Comfort brought by Tim Burton.

Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland. Visitation for family and friends is Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Kilgore and Collier Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
