From Hazleton Standard-Sentinel of Monday, April 7, 1930:
William Carl Altmiller, a life-long resident of this city, passed away at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital yesterday afternoon at 8:50 o'clock being in his fifty-fifth year. He had been staying at the county seat during the past winter and suffered a stroke two weeks ago. Mr. Altmiller was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Justus Altmiller of South Cedar street. He was a drummer in the Hazleton Liberty Band for many years. Mr. Altmiller was a member of Christ Lutheran church. He is survived by two brothers, George, of Philadelphia; Fred, of this city, and a sister, Mrs. E.C. Stillgebauer, of New York City. The funeral will be held privately from the home of his brother, Fred Altimiller, of 73 South Cedar street, Wedneday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the family plot in the Vine street cemetery.
