Bettye Ruth Spears Perrine was born on July 15, 1933 in Skedee, Okla., to Fred William Spears and Trula McKinley Spears. She passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, having reached the age of 78 years, two months, and 23 days. She married Loyd Lee Perrine on May 23, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2011. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Pawnee, participating as a Sunday School Leader, Choir, and was also involved in the youth and children's ministry. Bettye and Loyd began a Singles Ministry in the church which touched many lives. She and Loyd owned and operated Perrine's Furniture before moving to their farm. She also worked as a Job Developer for Pawnee County Department of Human Services until her retirement. During her retirement she loved to travel, camp, attend Oklahoma State University sporting events, and enjoyed hosting and planning social gatherings. She will be remembered for supporting her children, grandchildren, and their friends at numerous school activities, and was a Pawnee Black Bear through and through. She will always be known as Nana, not only to her grandchildren, but also to many others who loved her. Bettye is survived by:

Son: Terry Perrine & his wife, Judith, Morrison, Colo., Two Daughters: Cindy Cartmell & her husband, Randy, Pawnee, Okla., Jayne Ann Williamson & her husband, Bruce, Stillwater, Okla., Grandchildren: Misty Cartmell, Lindale, Texas, Zach Cartmell & his wife, Lynn, Capulin, New Mexico, Three Brothers: Bob Spears, Wayne Spears and Gary Spears, and their families. Plus a number of other relatives, and many friends.

Besides her husband, Loyd, she was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Trula Spears, and her sister, Louise Cross.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Pawnee, Oklahoma with Rev. Mike Weaver officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee, Oklahoma, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home, Pawnee, Oklahoma.
