On Monday, September 7, 1863, Patrick became a naturalized citizen of the United States at the Monroe County (Iowa) Court in Albia.
Patsy died on June 16, 1902, in Monroe County.

COUNTY NEWS Tyrone
The death of Patrick Carbin, one of the old and honored settlers of Jackson township tool place at his home Monday evening after a period of illness. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery in Melrose, Wednesday in the presence of a large and sorrowing concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Carbin, by pluck, industry and honesty built up one of the largest farms in Monroe county and in company with his senses was actively engaged in its operation up to his recent illness. In his demise Monroe county loses one of her best citizens and his family an affectionate head. To them we extend our sympathy.

Mr. Patsy Carbin south of the city, died last Monday evening about 6 o'clock, with dropsy of the heart. The funeral occurred at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, at the Catholic church. Rev. Father Brownrigg officiating. The remains was interred at the cemetery south of town.
