LYONS - Velma Ruth Pool, 81, died May 9, 1982, at Lyons District Hospital after a long illness. Born Velma Ruth Anderson, March 5, 1901, at Rulo, Neb., she married Ray Pool Dec. 24, 1921. He died Dec. 29, 1967. She was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and longtime resident of Lyons.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, World War I Veterans Auxiliary, Queen Esther Chapter No. 32, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Lyons.
Survivors: brother, Harold Anderson, Salina; sisters, Lucille Huffman, Blackfoot, Idaho; Elizabeth Grissom, Tacoma, Washington; Pearl Ward, Helen Smith, both of McPherson; Mary Horn, Martha Tappan, both of Lyons.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sillin-Crawford-Miller Funeral Home, Lyons; the Rev. Jay Anderson.
Burial at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. Tuesday until service time at the funeral home.
