Albert Nelson Stevens enlisted as a Private in Company D of the Fourth Michigan Infantry on June 20, 1861, for 3 years of service, at age 20. He was discharged for disability at Minor's Hill, Virginia, on December 11, 1861. On December 5, 1864, Albert enlisted as a Private in Company A of the Thirtieth Michigan Infantry. He was promoted to Sergeant on December 23, 1864 and mustered out of service at Detroit, Michigan, on June 30, 1865.
