OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Dora Dell Bagwell Farris, age 94, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.

She was born April 17, 1917, in Calhoun, Ga., one of 11 children born to Robert James Wood and Maggie McBrayer Wood.

Mrs. Farris retired from Union Carbide Corp. where she was a process operator at the Y-12 plant. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the Senior Adult Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Howard Bagwell, on July 8, 1985; and daughter, Barbara Ann Hughes, on July 16, 1985; as well as four brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Earl Clayton Farris; stepson, Ralph Farris and wife, Brenda, of Chatsworth, Ga.; five grandchildren, David Hughes of Oak Ridge, Daniel Hughes and wife, Brianna, of Knoxville, Darrin Hughes and wife, Lorrie, of Virginia, LaDonna Freeman of Lake City and Crystal Locke and husband, Robert, of Woodstock, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Justin Hughes, Chelsea Seal and husband, Michael, Bryan Freeman, Solomon Locke and Jeffson Locke; special niece, Shelba Sexton and husband, Herchel, of Calhoun, Ga.; brother-in-law, Paul Farris of Corbin, Ky.; sister-in-law, Pauline Wood of Calhoun, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Calvary Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Steve McDonald officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
