At his home in North Urbana, January 8, occurred the death of Ezra Gleason.
He was born in Warren County, Jun 11, 1833, coming to Steuben county at the age of 14 years. He spent part of his boyhood days in Campbell and Thurston, and served in the 106th regiment in the Civil War. He returned to Thurston after the war and spent three years in lumbering, after which he removed to Watkins, where he farmed for fourteen years. In 1878 he purchased the farm in the town of Urbana which he owned at the time of his death. Mr. Gleason served as the County Superintendent of the Poor, during which time he lived in this village. He was well known throughout the county and highly respected.
He leaves three sons and three daughters.
