Charles H. Hawkes Rites Saturday Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from Epsilon Evangelical United Brethren Church for former Epsilon resident Charles L. Hawkes, 67, who died April 16 following a long illness. Mr. Hawkes died at Clearwater, Fla., where he resided. Rev. R.H. Lindley will officiate at the funeral rite. He was born at Rockford, Michigan on September 25, 1892 and came to Epsilon with his parents, Mr. Maxim Hawkes and the late Mrs. Hawkes, when he was a small child. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; Patricia of Clearwater; his father Maxim Hawkes, Petosky; a sister Mrs. Gordon (Ruth) Shearer, of Petoskey; a half-sister, Mrs. John (Rachel) Grindle of Detroit. The body will arrive at the Stone Funeral Home on Friday where friends may cal Friday evening. Interment will be in Curtiss cemetery.Transcribed from Petoskey News Review, April 21, 1960.
