Michael and Martha was married 63 years.

Michael Hall married Martha Syphers in 1833. Martha Syphers was born on October 12, 1806 in Maryland. After Michael and Martha got married they moved to Shelby County, Ohio.

In early pioneering days Michael's profession was a Blacksmith and a general repairman of metal objects. He had a forge and anvil to bend those precious broken metal utensils and tools. Michael and his wife purchased about 250 acres in Orange Township, Shelby County Ohio that where he took up farming.

The family attended the United Brethren Church and they were very activity in the work of our Lord.

In 1863, Michael and Martha took their family along with John and Samuel to Dekalb County, Indiana. They located just south of the town of Corunna (today it is State Route 327) in Section 4 of Richmond Township. This land was located just South of the James Topping farm and was part of the original Benjamin Dearborn Land Grant from President Martin Van Buren.

Here they built their log cabin and established their route once more. At this time Samuel Hall was eleven years old. The treak for Sidney to Corunna, about 125 miles, would be long and treacherous. They were still no roads to speak of. In some of the low spots logs were placed across the pathway so the horses and wagon did not get stuck in the mud. The normal time it took to travel the distance of 125 miles in 1863 was seven good days.

On August 18, 1880 Michael and Martha sold the Section4 Township 34 property back to Sameul Dearborn for $300. Michael and Martha move to Kendallvile, Indiana, located just seven miles west of Corunna in Noble County. Their son, John D. and previously established residency there and in their later years both Michael and Martha lived with John D. and his wife Bella.
