Hannah E. Hansen (1864-1936) aka Hanne Amundsen, emigrated from Norway in 1880. (b. February 22, 1864; Oslo, Norway - d. April 24, 1936; Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA)

Birth:
Hannah may have been born in Norway possibly to Amund Hansen. She used the date "February 1864" in the 1900 US census and her death certificate uses "22 February 1864".

Siblings:
She had at least three other siblings that emigrated with her: Carrie Hansen, who's daughter, Mae Elizabeth Danielsen (1894-1986) married Eden T. Brekke (1893-1978); Ole C. Hanson (1870-?) who lived in Dallas, Barron County, Wisconsin and had several children; and a sister who lived in Seattle, Washington.

Marriage:
Hannah married Otto Olson (1858-1921) on September 4, 1884 in Chicago at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at 138th Street and Wabash Avenue.

Children:
Together they had the following children: Tille Olson (1885-1918) who married Norval Wintrone (c1885-1918) in Wisconsin then she and her husband died in the influenza pandemic at Devil's Lake, North Dakota; Harry Oliver Olson (1887-1964) who served as a Lieutenant in World War I, married a French woman named Germaine X (1900-1920) who died after two years of marriage in San Francisco and they had no children; Mabel Olson (1890-1971) who married Jesse Clay (1888-1976) and had one child and four grandchildren; Norman Otto Olson (1895-1977) who married Isabelle Wickman (1901-1931) and had one child, Norman Olson II (1921-1967) aka Buddy Olson, who died under the name "Norman Wickman" and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Chicago, then Norman senior married Eva X (1904-2000) from Germany and had three children; and Helen Olson (1900-1970) who married John Lozinski (1896-1980) and had two children, Dorothy Lozinski and John Lozinski then she married Frank Kirpichoff (1891-1965).

Chicago, Illinois:
In 1900 Otto and Hannah were living at 167 Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois with their four children. On February 13, 1910 it appears that Hannah was returning from a trip to Scandanavia by way of Liverpool, England aboard the ship "Campania".

Death of husband:
In 1921 her husband died and in 1930 Hannah, now a widow was living with her son, Harry, a widower; and Hazel Wintrone who was the daughter of Tille. They were living at 1227 Mozart Street in Chicago.

Death:
Hannah died on April 24, 1936 and was death certificate 1936-6012863. She died of breast cancer with congestion of her lungs. Harry Olson, her son, did not know her maiden name, where she was born, or the name of her parents when she died, when he was the informant for her death certificate.

Funeral notice:
Her funeral notice was in the Chicago Tribune on Sunday April 26, 1936 read as follows: "Hannah Olson nee Admundsen, wife of the late Otto, beloved mother of the late Mrs. Tillie Wintrone, Harry, Mrs. Mabel Clay, Norman, Helen, and Hazel Wintrone. Funeral services Monday 1 p.m. at chapel 2906 Madison Street. Interment Mount Olive."

Burial:
She was buried on April 27, 1936 at Mount Olive Cemetery at 3800 North Narragansett Avenue in Chicago in the same plot as her husband Otto.

Research:
Researched and written by Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) for Findagrave starting on September 12, 2003. Updated with her full date of birth from the Illinois Death Index. Updated with information from her death certificate on February 8, 2018. Diana Erickson of Seattle, Washington believes that our Hannah is the same as her Hannah Nicoline Admunsen. The clues that they are a match are my notes from 2007 from an interview with Hannah's granddaughter that said that Hannah's brother Ole died in Dallas, Wisconsin. Diana Erickson has Hannah's mother also dying in Dallas, Wisconsin. The clues against a match are that the birth dates for the two Hannah's do not match for the day, month, or year. Diana Erickson has also interviewed Hazel Wintrone Karzen, the source of my information. Updated on August 23, 2021 with information on her siblings.
