Soldier, Private, United States Army, WWI. Frank M. Charles was raised in West Hamilton Beach, NY. Pvt. Charles was a machine gunner with Co. B of 307th Regiment, 77th Division. This division was comprised mostly of courageous men from the New York City area.

During the build up to what was to be the last German offensive of the war, The Second Battle of The Marne, Private Charles position was compromised, overrun, and taken, by German troops. This gallant American, Private Frank M. Charles, and his captain, Captain Blanton Barrett, were bayoneted to death by the kaiser's troops.
